Once again, New Horizons has risen up to its position as the number one I.T and E-business training Institute.  This demonstration of leadership comes through another ground-breaking project which is the “1 day Free Training/ Workshop” for all Corps members serving in Lagos state.

This project which kicked off in August 2016, is a product of the partnership of New Horizons with the  NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), an arm of NYSC responsible for building enterprise among Corps members.

The efficiency in delivery on this project is the sequestration of Lagos NYSC in 4 zones around where New Horizons’ centers are located, namely

  • Ikeja
  • Festac
  • Lekki
  • Surulere

The Local Government in these axis where these corps members rally for community development (CDs) and clearances have their corps members broken into groups of hundreds at a time for these trainings.

The training is expected to stretch through a period of 2 months to effectively cover Lagos in its entirety. So far, trainings have been conducted for about 50% of the Lagos Corps members with feedback ranging from “very good” to “excellent”.

The goal of this project according to Mr Tim Akano, the MD of New Horizons Nigeria, is to give the corps members a platform to leapfrog into a very enterprising future through the acquisition of ICT skills.

With unemployment level today at an all-time high, this gesture of New Horizons couldn’t have come at a better time to cushion the labor market quagmire and reset the minds of Youth Corpers in the direction of self-determination and enterprise.

Empowerment projects like this in collaboration with NYSC/SAED for corps members is not novel to New Horizons. From a partnership that started with NYSC/SEAD Lagos chapter roughly five (5) years ago, New Horizons now has official partnership with 26 states of Nigeria and has through its IT and E-business training, empowered thousands of Corps members across the country and set up platforms for employment of corps members through its several Job Fairs.

Only a few months back, New Horizons organized a 100% Free training for staff of NYSC Lagos chapter on selected ICT courses to support the Federal Government’s vision for ICT literacy and mastery for all public servants, and training certificates were issued afterwards to participants.

Finally on this One day ICT/ E-Business training for corps members, New Horizons has also already set processes in place to replicate this Free ICT/e-Business Training/ Workshop in other partner states of the federation.
